| Bicyclists
and pedestrians take over the street for Sunday Parkways in Portland,
OR. Modeled after the Ciclovias in Latin America, the Sunday Parkways
event involves closing a 10 km loop of streets to automobile traffic
for a day. Family activities are set up in city parks along the route.
The event becomes a 10-km-long street festival. Other U.S. cities,
such as Chicago and New York, have had great success with similar
events.
