• International Walk to School Day (iwalk)
  The home site for iwalk, held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, has information and links to organizations around the world that are sponsoring activities. "The ultimate goal is to create a more walkable world community by community."

• National Walk Our Children to School Day
  Wednesday, October 5, 2011. This site has ideas for planning activities and events, registration forms, walking links, and articles about children and walking.

• Active and Safe Routes to School A Canadian program encouraging the use of active modes of transportation to and from school.

• Adult Crossing guards program by the City of Walnut Creek California.

• Teach your child pedestrian safety by Children's Hospital of Wisconsin Children's Health System.

• Child Pedestrians. A scholarly literature review by Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center affiliated with the University of Washington.

• Hedgehogs (UK). Hedgehogs have been replaced by Tales Of the Road. Resources for child safety campaigns including online games, screen savers and song lyrics

• Injury Prevention Web links to agencies, organizations, a weekly literature update, and other resources.

• National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Child Pedestrian Safety Curriculum Teacher's Guide.

• Pedestrian Safety National SAFE KIDS Campaign is the first nationwide movement to prevent unintentional childhood injury.

• Pedestrian Safety Poem. Written by Lori Manning, part of a pedestrian safety lesson for kindergarten students.

• Child education resources for parents and teachers by the UK Department for Transport. Excellent teaching tools for elementary and secondary students.

Road Accidents are a major cause of death for all children aged between 1 and 15 years. The UK has one of the worst child pedestrian fatality rates in Europe.

• Safe Routes to School by Transportation Alternatives in New York City. In 1994, it was one of the first programs in the United States.

  • California Safe Routes to School Clearinghouse offers support to local groups and public agencies for developing safe routes to school. Their website includes a listing of upcoming conferences and events and a compilation of useful information.

• Walkability Checklist. A clever form for kids to use as they learn about pedestrian issues. See also the suggestions for "walk-pooling" as an alternative to carpooling.
