Perils for Pedestrians - Retrofit Reasons

The stake with the pink ribbon marks the property line. The picket fence extends almost five feet into the public right of way. Rather than move the fence to where it belonged, the sidewalk was built at the curb. The sidewalk should have been built where the pavement joints are in the driveway, giving the public all the benefits of a green space between the sidewalk and the curb.
